About Dr. Elmore
Dr. Scott Elmore is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Doctorate in Clinical-Forensic Psychology whose career has been devoted to understanding the intersection of mental health, behavior, relationships, and personal responsibility.
For more than a decade, Dr. Elmore specialized in treating adolescents presenting with highly complex behavioral and developmental needs. Much of this work involved justice-involved youth, intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, aggression, trauma, impulse-control disorders, and problematic sexual behaviors. Treatment frequently required close collaboration with probation officers, schools, residential programs, psychiatrists, psychologists, case managers, families, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Elmore also worked with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness, providing early exposure to some of the most challenging presentations encountered in clinical practice.
Today, that same depth of experience continues to shape every aspect of his practice. He works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns ranging from anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions to complex behavioral, developmental, and forensic-related challenges. Whether helping someone manage anxiety, supporting a family through significant behavioral concerns, or working with individuals navigating impulse-control disorders, compulsive behaviors, developmental differences, or other complex behavioral presentations, Dr. Elmore approaches each client with the same commitment to understanding the whole person—not simply the diagnosis or the behavior.
His clinical approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change requires both compassion and accountability. Rather than defining people by their symptoms or their past behavior, therapy focuses on understanding the factors that have shaped a person's life while developing practical skills that promote healthier relationships, emotional regulation, sound decision-making, and lasting personal growth.
Drawing from psychodynamic, humanistic, behavioral, and cognitive-behavioral traditions, Dr. Elmore tailors treatment to the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each individual, couple, and family. His goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-informed care that helps clients create meaningful and lasting change.
Therapeutic Philosophy
I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, honesty, and a genuine connection. While understanding the past can be important, meaningful change often comes from combining insight with practical action.
Some clients come to therapy seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. Others are looking for practical tools to address specific challenges. Many people benefit from a combination of both. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative environment where clients can gain clarity, develop new skills, and move toward lasting growth.
